For the first 15 of its 25 year existence, the SFCO was under the baton of co-founder Robert Wingert (clarinetist now living in Seattle, Washington) who patiently and skillfully built the orchestra into an ensemble of fine musicianship. SFCO's performance level continues to improve, in part because orchestra members take the study of the music seriously, and responsibly prepare for and attend weekly rehearsals. ![]() Janet Cordova Concert Master Janet began playing violin in the Los Alamos schools programs in elementary school. She continued through Los Alamos High School and while in college at Smith College, playing in the Smith/Amherst orchestra and taking private lessons with Philip Naegele. The violin was set aside while she attended Georgetown Law School, raised her two boys, and began to practice law. She started playing again in 1998, practicing like mad and taking lessons from Elena Sopoci in Santa Fe. She joined the SFCO about the time that Oliver Prezant became the Music Director and Conductor. Janet loves the repetoire, the love of music, the group effort, and the feeling of family that Mr. Prezant and the SFCO members bring to each other and the community of northern New Mexico.
