Jody Ellis, co-Founder and longtime SFCO cellist, passed away in February, 2018. After serving as a nurse in the US Air Force, Jody came to Santa Fe and started the Placita Bon Bon Shop in Sena Plaza. She was one of the founders of Sunstone Press, and in her mid-fifties, she decided to take up the cello. In search of an outlet for her music-making, she and Annelise Cohen founded the Santa Fe Community Orchestra in 1982. Jody went on to become a beloved cello teacher and composer in Santa Fe, and she was honored as a Santa Fe Living Treasure in June, 2006. Jody passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Fe, surrounded by friends and loved ones.
